Padres Battle Back, Troll Tribe 4-4

Ties are no fun, but they're better than losing.

Josh Johnson showed some delayed Spring rust today, failing to ride the momentum from his first start.  Although he gave up three runs in the first, JoJo settled down nicely and flashed his excellent offerings to hitters (Josh Johnson is not a flasher).  The big right-hander managed to whiff three Indians after settling down.  In relief, Adys Portillo, Kevin Quackenbush, and Nick Vincent all tossed scoreless innings and made Cleveland hitters look bad - with Portillo needing just 9 pitches to retire the side.

Padres hitters struggled for long stretches, but managed to battle back from an early deficit.  On the prospect side of things, Austin Hedges, Cory Spangenberg, and Reymond Fuentes had rough afternoons, but Rymer Liriano slugged an impressive double.  New acquisition Ryan Jackson earned major hustle points with a triple and a pair of sacrifices (CAN YOU SAY "GAMER?").  On the whole, the team failed to cash in on opportunities, going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position, leaving 9 men on base.  On-the-bubble players Jonathan Galvez and Tommy Medica continued their impressive springs and will look to force their way onto the team.  THESE GUYS ARE HUNGRY.

So the Padres didn't win, but they showed HEART - and it's still spring -  IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT THE SCORE WAS.
