Our Padres finally got their first series win under their belts, and it came against a strong Detroit Tigers team. Tonight they'll start a four-game set against NL West rival Rockies. First up will be left-hander Eric Stults opposing Jordan Lyles.

Stults struggled in his season debut on April 4th, but came back and pitched a solid outing last Wednesday in the first game of the doubleheader in Cleveland. Against the Indians he gave up just two runs (one earned) on five hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. Unfortunately even one run was too much for the Padres offense to overcome that morning. Hopefully they can give him a better showing today and begin the series on a strong note.

Lyles will try to prevent that, however, as he makes his third start of the season and turn in another strong performance. His last time out he kept the White Sox to only one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings, walking two and striking out four. Prior to that, he was tagged for four runs while pitching five frames against the Marlins.

Lyles is trying to make the best of his time in the big leagues after being given a spot in the rotation following Tyler Chatwood's injury. Chatwood is already back in action, having made his season debut yesterday against the Giants. But the Rockies recently suffered another loss in their rotation with Brett Anderson hitting the DL on Saturday. So they're hoping for a good outing from Lyles tonight to help ease their pitching woes.

Stults takes the mound at 7:10 tonight. A win will allow our Padres to leapfrog the Rockies and take up the 3rd place spot in the NL West, so join us tonight to cheer on our boys.
