The left-hander has thirty days to negotiate with the Padres.

The SK Wyverns of the Korea Baseball Organization have accepted the Padres' $2 million bid for left-hander Kwang-Hyun Kim, according to a report from our Sung-Min Kim. The team's decision allows the Padres to have exclusive negotiating rights with Kim for the next thirty days.

Reports out of Korea stated that the Wyverns were unlikely to accept the Padres' bid after it fell well below the $10 million number that they were looking for, so it seems that the team is doing Kim a service by letting him negotiate with San Diego and pursue his major-league dream. If they had declined the Padres' bid, Kim would have had to wait until after the 2016 season to hit free agency and be able to sign with a major-league club.

According to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, a scout recently characterized Kim as a "slider guy" who is consistently between 90-94 mph and has an injury history. Of course, the Padres have had recent success with questionable international pitching signings; right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne posted a 3.36 ERA in sixteen starts with the team in the second half of last season.
