2nd Inning

Tyson Ross had some fun here. Ross struck out the side to bring his total to 4 strikeouts after only 2 innings.

3rd Inning

With 1 out, Reymond Fuentes drew a walk and reached base for the first time in his Major League career. After a sacrifice bunt, Fuentes found himself at 3rd base after stealing his first Major League base. August’s greatest player and America’s Finest City’s Sweetheart Will Venable walked to put Padres at the corners. Alexi Amarista seized his opportunity to score Fuentes from 3rd by scoring Fuentes from 3rd. A single to left field gets Reymond home to give the Padres THE LEAD.

PADRES 1-0

After getting two outs, Ross gave up a double and an RBI single to make the game even again. He ended the inning with his 5th K of the game.

4th Inning

Mark Kotsay still gets hits. A single gets him on base, but he’s left there to age. Two outs later, the inning is over.

Ross strikes out 2 more batters to increase his total to 7 for the day.

5th Inning

3 more strikeouts for Ross gives him 10 on the day. That is a new career high for Tyson. This was also his final inning of work. 105 pitches in just 5 innings today was a pretty high total. He gave up 5 hits and 1 walk while allowing just 1 earned run in a no decision.

6th Inning

Dale Thayer entered the game and gave up a solo home run.

8th Inning

Reymond Fuentes led off the inning with his first Major League hit. A single up the middle puts him on base for the second time today. A wild pitch gets Fuentes to third and a groundout by Jesus Guzman sends Fuentes to 3rd base. Venable remains hitless after a strikeout and pinch hitter Chris Denorfia grounds out to end the inning.

9th Inning

3 outs.

Padres head home to face the Giants for a 3 game series starting tomorrow with Ian Kennedy on the mound. Labor Day baseball under the sun. 1 dollar hot dogs and Bobby Cressey on the organ. Win tomorrow, Padres!
