#Padres agree to a 2-year deal for $8.5 million with OF Will Venable. Will cover last 2 arb years. More soon at http://t.co/HOuLRUqd1l

This season, Venable is making 2.675 million in salary. According to Brock, he will make $4.25 million in 2014 and in 2015.
It is nice to see the Padres make this type of deal with Will. He is coming off an August in which he produced 40 hits, had 8 home runs, and compiled a .367 average. Six of Venable's 15 stolen bases this season also happened in August. Venable is also a hit away from tying his career high of 109 hits, which he accrued last year.
Throughout the year, Venable has batted .273 with 20 home runs and has 49 runs batted in, which is 2 short of his career high total of 51 RBI which he posted in 2009.
Excited about Will Venable's continued commitment to the #Padres!

Two months shy of his 31st birthday, it will be interesting to see how this investment pays off for the Padres.
