Yesterday we were told that Chase Headley would get an MRI so doctors could get a look at just how seriously he strained his calf. Today Corey Brock tells us on Padres.com that it was diagnosed as a Grade 1 strain, which I had to look up to find it's considered the most mild of strains, with less than 5% muscle fiber damage.
MRI confirms Padres third baseman Chase Headley's calf injury | padres.com: News
"The last day and a half has been a lot better than the first day and a half," Headley said. "I'm able to walk around pretty much normal now, which is a good sign. But it's feeling better than it did a couple of days ago. It's definitely improved a ton.
If team medic and closer Huston Street is right Headley will feel 100% in 2 weeks but need to take one more week off just to be certain he's in the clear.
On Headley: My guess is he won't play for 3 weeks. As Huston Street said about the calf, "once you feel 100 percent, take another week."
