Scott Feldman in all his GIF glory.
Baseball is back! GIFs are back! Sort of.
Spring Training is here and with that comes chaotic scorecards and day games, only a handful of which actually get televised. Which means the opportunities for GIFing plays are very few. I have a fix for your GIF craving though. Another edition of 'The Many GIFs' post. This time we're going to focus on the 'meh' signing, Scott Feldman, who got three years and 30 million dollars from the Astros. He has to be something right, right?
Scott Feldman the groundballer
This is the first thing that people notice when looking at Feldman's statistics. He gets groundballs at an above average rate.
I love the reaction of the batter, "not another groundball!"
That's a lot of groundballs. One thing a groundball pitcher has to be good at is covering first base, as highlighted in two of the three GIFs above. But what if the ball goes to his left.
Scott Feldman the fielder
U NO HAS BASE!
Like a cat!
Feldman is a pro hopscotcher in the offseason.
Make sure to yell really loud when calling Feldman off. Just ask Manny Machado.
Scott Feldman the commander
Without seeing more of Feldman I can't really tell how good his command is overall, but it looks to be pretty good. Just ask the Padres.
On May 1, 2014, Scott Feldman threw a complete game. He allowed two runs on three hits, but struck out 12, yes 12, Padres' hitters.
Scott Feldman the home run hitter
Wait. WHAT?!?!
Oh ya, the Astros play in the American League now. Nevermind.
