Tyson Ross takes on the division rival Rockies this afternoon in Peoria.
The Padres will welcome NL West rival Rockies to Peoria Sports Complex this afternoon. They'll give the ball to Tyson Ross for the start. Prior to his last appearance, Ross hadn't allowed a hit or any runs to cross the plate all Spring. But the Indians got the better of him last Wednesday, tagging him for three runs in 3 1/3 innings of work, his longest outing of the preseason. Ross has pitched a total of 8 1/3 innings in his previous three starts racking up six strikeouts altogether. Corey Brock tells us we should expect to see him throw around 70-80 pitches this afternoon as he focuses on his slider against Colorado.
The Rockies will send Brett Anderson to the mound opposite Ross. They acquired Anderson from the Athletics in the offseason and so far he's proven to be a good acquisition. This Spring he's thrown ten innings, collecting five strikeouts while only walking one, and has kept opponents to two runs.
