The Padres' first 100 games

One hundred games down and 62 to go. The season's end can't come soon enough. It's still so far off, but in my heart I'm already there.

These last few weeks have been so depressing. While our local sports writers have turned their attention to the football pre-season, I threw myself into Le Tour de France rather than watch the Padres commit a slow painful suicide. Le Tour was so much more scenic, relaxing and foreign. I can watch hours of cyclists climbing the Pyreneese peaks, but I can''t get myself to watch more than a few innings at bats of these Padres games. One loss after another, then a meaningless win and then more losing. It just seems like an endless cycle.

With 44 wins the 2013 team is tied with the 2011 team after 100 games and 2 ahead of the 2012 team. The records the past 3 years are so strikingly similar, but this team did it different. While it was sure fun watching the them hoard wins in the first half, it's been unbearable watching them lose in the latter half. They just pissed their season away all at once in one long frothy stream. How about a courtesy flush?
