Every day should be Chipper Jones Bobblehead Day.

Chipper homered twice and recorded his 2,700th career hit and Jason Heyward added a home run of his own. Oh yeah, Kris Medlen did something spectacular as well, hurling a complete-game shutout in a dominating 6-0 win over the Padres.

The first home run came at the start of the ballgame; Chipper launched a 3-2 pitch to right after Michael Bourn's leadoff double for an early 2-0 lead against Jason Marquis. That spelled trouble for San Diego, whose best chance at denting the scoreboard went up in smoke in the third; Marquis led off the inning with a double and was at third with one out, but when he tried to score on a ground ball back to Medlen, he was snuffed out at the plate.

With the score still 2-0 in the fifth, Jason Heyward joined the festivities and hit a long two-out home run to right, his 20th of the season. Not to be outdone, Chipper connected for another home run, this one to dead center; this home run was the 2,700th hit of Chipper's storied career, and he took a curtain call for it. Paul Janish capped the scoring in the inning and the game with a two-run single with the bases loaded off Brad Boxberger.

Medlen, meanwhile, was dealing. He allowed just five hits and struck out six without walking a single hitter. He threw 25 of 32 first-pitch strikes and 104 pitches in total for his first career complete game.
